Art Museum Date

So, on our date out together last Saturday evening, we decided to change it up a bit and go over to the Art Museum. The admission is free and we have heard from a ton of people that it's really great!

Nothing against museums or people who love art... the Jessups just aren't art people. We enjoy history museums and such, but put us in a building filled with weird picture after picture of splotches and messy lines and we are lost. Most of them looked like a painting you might find hanging up in a kindergarten class. That's the skill level that the paintings were. To be truthfully honest I really can't believe where art has gone to these days and that these pictures are museum worthy. There were even security guards walking around! They most be worth something, but I wouldn't pay $2 for them when I could give my 9 month old son a crayon and get the same thing.
The best part is, my dear husband will read every single description and plaque describing each picture, the mood and what it meant and the artist's thoughts. I thought we were going to be there all night. I am the type of person that will just walk through a museum and I'm done. I've seen everything and am ready to go. Sebron will take his time and silently read each thing even if he thinks the pictures is hideous.

We passed by a certain painting that was left most blank with an ugly splotch in the middle. Another couple was studying it and the lady kept saying "this one is so calming and pure." ?????? It is hard for me to take it seriously and Seeb and I shared a good laugh over several of the master pieces.

It was a fun date. : )

  2. WE could open our own art museum...what do you think? Some framed paper, energetic kids/babies with paint to splat everywhere, and there!!! We have some out-of-this-world art we could sell for millions! ;-) ~Lauren
