Not in the breaking-family-apart way, but literally wrecking the home. More like the kitchen. Ask any of my house mates, it's been bad lately. It all started when I almost burned the house down while making baby food for Jancsi last week. We had just got back from our Christmas travels and the day had gotten away with me. I decided to throw together some apples and blueberries while Seeb had J-Man in the tub. I peeled and sliced the apples and dumped everything in a pot. Put it on the stove and then went to help Sebron get the little man ready for bed. Ten minuets later Jancsi is diapered, pj-ed, nursed and in bed and Seeb and I are exhausted. It's 8pm. We totally crash in bed and are asleep in no time.
I didn't wake up until 4am with a sinking and alarming feeling that I had forgotten something. It dawns on me that I never turned off the baby food sitting on the stove. I start panicking and wondering if I need to go upstairs to turn everything off. I'm sitting there in bed and I'm so tired. So, I do the mature and responsible thing as a Mama- I sniff the air. I truly believe that God gave Moms a better nose then most. We can smell a dirty diaper a mile away and any type of dangerous burning gas/electric/fire smells way before most highly trained humans. After a moment or two I am relived to find that there are no burning smells filling the house. 'Beth must have taken them off. We're good.' I'm asleep again in seconds.
Thank the Lord the Longmires were up watching TV when I decided to burn the house down. They smelled something burning and were able to turn off the stove before much damage was down. Yes I about ruined the pot and the applesauce was black as coal.
My home wrecking rampage took off from there. So far I've dumped food everywhere, sent spoons and spatulas flying from bowls and pans, sent food flying up the wall, left toast in the toaster until it resembled ash (almost burned the house down again...), left food out all night and ruined meals. It has been pretty epic and I have been the brunt of many jokes around here. The saddest part of it all is that I sincerely have no idea what is happening. I feel like I've totally traded places with some kitchen/house wife dweeb. Things are just going wrong and breaking all over the place! lol
Here's to hoping that this will be short lived and that the Longmires will always be home when I try to burn the house down.
LOL!
