Gettin' Stuff Done

We've been slammed these past few weeks and getting so much accomplished! We've got a long list of projects we are wanting to get finished before the baby arrives and hay season begins, so we've been hitting it hard. We had some beautiful days in the 70's two weeks ago which allowed us to get a lot of outdoor stuff done thankfully. I love it when I don't have to bundle Jancsi up.

We finished moving all the round bales from one of the hay pens. The cows had broken into it and made quit a mess. I'm relieved to have that project done and checked off the list. Also had a somewhat rainy day which allowed us to get the shop cleaned out and organized. You totally wouldn't recognize it. Looks so good! It took some time because we basically had to clear out everything in order to really get in there and clean before bringing everything back in and putting it where we wanted. Another huge project DONE!

We got all the cows up and sprayed them. We've cleared out the yard and surrounding area of tree limbs that fall all the time from this never ending wind. We also managed to take an afternoon and get our Texas drivers licenses taken care of! I know we are SO behind, but better late then never I say! We've dropped off the truck at the shop and picked it up again. We've strung new barbwire, picked up old barbwire and so much more. I enjoy staying busy because it keeps my mind off how many weeks I have left in this pregnancy. (6.5 weeks if you're wondering. : ))

Feeding cows.
I don't know why these last final weeks of being pregnant are always so hard on me mentally. I try not to think about the remaining time left as we go about our chores. I try not to think about it as I pant, groan and come close to crying as I try to bend over and pull on my boots. I try not to think about it as I struggle to crawl, pull/drag myself into the bed of the truck to unload various things... trust me, it's not pretty. I try not to think about it as I get out of breath walking up the hill to the hay barn. I try not to think about it when I log into Pinterest and see everyone's pins of beach body training tips and super flat stomachs as I look down and can't see my feet.

Taking inventory on cows.
We woke up a week ago to a freezing house, literally. Turns out we were out of gas and our gage was broken. The gas guy came out and discovered we have a leak. Fabulous. So we've had no heat, no hot water, no stove or oven for the whole week. Of course this all couldn't have happened early when it was in the 70's. Had to wait for this cold front to come through..... we've just been camping out and enjoying extra snuggle time in the morning with my little guy and getting showers at various friend's houses.

Counting calves with Jancsi- I asked him how many there were (we have 43) and he said "Two!"
And glory glory! The plumbers came out yesterday and after tracking mud through the entire house, pulling furniture away from walls and taking out all the pots and pans and putting them all over the kitchen floor AND digging up our whole back yard, they found the leak in the gas line!! They left yesterday, leaving the house as they made it..... hmmmm... Nothing a little extra time and vacuum can't fix! They came back out today and we have heat! I have my stove and oven back! Praise God!

The guys said it is a good thing that we have a drafty house because they found 4 different leaks in the house! These have all been fixed and hopefully we'll be back up and running with hot meals and showers tonight!

  1. Grace, I know you feel huge and like 6.5 weeks is an eternity, but I think you look great and so very happy. Soon she will be here and you will get to add her to the list of chores. Lots of love!
